Rci Timeshare - Marketing Scam - RCI , Ocean Reef Resort Apex International
I sat in on a timeshare presentation done by Apex International, Ocean Reef Resort Bahamas, they lied about the cancellation process and closing fees. Over 6 hours, within those hours they did not disclose a $1590 closing fee if i choose to sign and cancel within 3 days.
It's a scam if you don't read word for word in the contract they will charge you a $1590 closing fee, what ever they verbally promise, once you sign your name you are stuck with this fee if you cancel. Don't believe the presentation and what they verbally promise it's a "Lie". RCI Barclay credit card will not correct or even make an attempt to reverse the credit card charge.
There position is if you sign the contract it's final, they don't care how their product was marketed, how they go about scamming people into signing the membership.

I agree 100%. This company has been horrible to deal with from day one.
Starting with the full day it took to produce my contract, only to have to come back the next day while on vacation. I agreed to do a resort transfer of my current time share which has yet to be completed. They will call you before putting anything in an email. I paid off the balance just to move on and put this horrible experience behind me and they overcharged me by $2500.00.
When I contacted them they assured me it would be reversed that day.
I had to call everyday for a week before it was completed. STAY AWAY from this company!!!
A timeshare purchase is never a good idea. Some people buy them with the idea of a financial investment, but a timeshare is not a good investment at all.
Besides, there are lots of fees involved. This is a good article that has good information about timeshares: http://www.timesharescam.com/blog/206-how-to-get-out-of-a-timeshare/
I fell for the same trap. The scammers (Apex International) lied using Ocean Reef Travel Club membership as a cover when infact it was RCI's membership that they were selling.
It's so confusing who one has membership with when it is Apex internation signing on behalf of all three companies. They lied that the product was not a timeshare, had an on-site beach and that Ocean Reef property was rated 4* and above when in fact it was nothing as close and does not even have a beach on-site! Who goes to vacation in the Caribbean to a resort with no beach? I am desperately trying to get a complete refund but it seems my credit card issuer is also part of the fraudsters.
I'm sure I'd end up in court over this matter.
It just goes to show how desperate and hungry businesses try and make extraordinary quick gains from the unassuming tourist. I will never return to the Bahamas until I'm done with these scammers.
Remember, your credit card complaint must be in writing, and soon after the bill arrives. Try again.
